Understanding Payment Settlement on YeboWork

5 min read

When a buyer pays online, Paystack processes the payment and settles the seller's full quoted price by direct bank transfer. Settlement typically takes T+1 to T+2 business days, subject to Paystack's settlement schedule and the receiving bank.

YeboWork takes 0% commission, does not hold job funds, and has no minimum settlement threshold. The buyer pays the separate 6% + R5 payment processor fee.

What T+1 to T+2 means

  • T is the transaction date — the day the buyer pays.
  • T+1 is the next business day.
  • T+2 is the second business day after payment.

For example, if a buyer pays on Monday, settlement will typically reflect on Tuesday or Wednesday. Weekends, South African public holidays, Paystack's settlement schedule, and the receiving bank may affect the arrival time.

A R1,000 example

  • Quoted job price: R1,000
  • Buyer-paid processor fee: R60 + R5
  • Total paid by buyer: R1,065
  • Amount settled to seller: R1,000
  • YeboWork commission: R0

The payment processor fee is added to the buyer's total. It is not deducted from the seller's quote.

How online settlement works

1. The buyer pays

The buyer selects Pay on YeboWork and pays by an available Paystack payment method. Paystack confirms the transaction and YeboWork records it against the order.

2. Paystack processes the settlement

Paystack applies its security and transaction checks. YeboWork does not receive or hold the seller's job funds.

3. The seller's bank receives the settlement

Paystack settles the seller's full quoted amount to the verified bank account connected to their YeboWork profile. The transfer typically reflects within 1–2 business days after the transaction.

What can affect the timeline?

Settlement timing may be affected by:

  • the time and day the buyer pays,
  • weekends and South African public holidays,
  • Paystack's applicable settlement schedule,
  • the receiving bank's processing time, or
  • a payment or bank-account review.

Do not treat the estimate as a guarantee. If the money has not arrived after two full business days, check the payment status and connected bank details, then contact YeboWork support with the order reference.

Direct payment has no Paystack settlement timeline

Cash and direct EFT are arranged between the buyer and seller. Paystack does not process those payments, no 6% + R5 payment processor fee applies, and the parties decide when payment is made. YeboWork cannot issue a refund for money it did not process.

Payment security

Paystack is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. Card details are entered and processed through Paystack and are not stored by YeboWork. YeboWork stores the transaction reference, amount, status, and date needed for the order record.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an online settlement take? Settlement typically takes T+1 to T+2 business days, where T is the transaction date. A Monday payment will usually reflect on Tuesday or Wednesday, subject to Paystack's settlement schedule and bank processing.

Is the 6% + R5 fee deducted from the seller? No. The buyer pays the fee in addition to the quoted price. The seller receives 100% of the quote and YeboWork takes 0% commission.

Does YeboWork hold the payment until work is complete? No. YeboWork does not hold job funds or operate a withdrawable balance. Paystack processes the payment and settles the quoted amount to the seller's connected bank account.

Do weekends and public holidays count as business days? No. They may extend the calendar time before a settlement reflects.

What should I do if settlement is late? Check the payment status and connected bank account first. If two full business days have passed, contact YeboWork support with the order reference, transaction date, and amount.

Can buyers and sellers choose direct payment instead? Yes. Cash or direct EFT can be arranged per job. These payments do not use Paystack and have no YeboWork payment fee.
