How Does YeboWork Payment Work?

6 min read

YeboWork gives buyers and sellers two payment choices. Use secure online payment for a recorded transaction, or settle directly by cash or EFT. In both cases, YeboWork takes 0% commission from the seller.

The simple version

When a buyer chooses Pay on YeboWork, Paystack processes the payment. The buyer pays the job price plus a 6% + R5 payment-processing fee. The seller receives 100% of the quoted job price directly into their connected bank account. YeboWork takes no commission, does not hold the funds, and has no payout minimum or withdrawal queue.

For a R1,000 job:

  • Job price: R1,000
  • Paystack processing fee paid by the buyer: R60 + R5
  • Buyer pays: R1,065
  • Seller receives: R1,000
  • YeboWork commission: R0

Two ways to pay

1. Pay on YeboWork (card or instant EFT). Paystack processes the payment and sends the quoted price to the seller's connected bank account. The buyer sees the 6% + R5 processing fee before confirming. Both parties get an on-platform payment record.

2. Pay your pro directly (cash or EFT). For in-person jobs you can simply settle with your pro on the day, with no online fee and no platform commission. This is the traditional way, and it's completely up to you.

You choose per job. Many people pay online for the record and convenience; others prefer cash for a quick local job.

In-person jobs: pay when you're satisfied

For hands-on services — plumbing, cleaning, electrical, gardening — the natural protection is timing. You can pay once the work is done and you're happy with it. Because you're paying after seeing the result, you're never paying blindly for something that hasn't happened. The pro trusts the platform, the verification and the reviews; you keep control of the moment you pay.

Digital work: preview first, then unlock

Digital services — a logo, a website, a piece of writing, a video — work differently, because the "product" is a file that's easy to copy. So YeboWork protects both sides with a preview-then-unlock approach:

  1. The pro uploads the finished work to YeboWork.
  2. You see a preview — a watermarked or lower-resolution version, or an excerpt — enough to check the quality and confirm it's what you wanted.
  3. When you're happy, you pay, and the clean, final files unlock for you to download.

This means the pro's work can't be taken without paying (you only ever see the watermarked preview until you do), and you can see the real thing before you commit a cent. It's the fairness of "hold until approved" — but applied to the file, not your money.

Why this is safe (even without holding funds)

Safety on YeboWork doesn't come from locking money away. It comes from:

  • Verified people. Pros can be ID-verified, and once a job is accepted both sides can confirm each other's identity in person.
  • Real reviews. Every completed job can be reviewed, so reputations are earned over time and bad actors get filtered out.
  • Everything on the record. Paying on-platform gives you a clear, timestamped record of what was agreed and paid — far stronger than an untraceable cash handover to a stranger.
  • You control the timing. Pay after the work (in-person) or after previewing (digital), so you're always paying for something real.

What the online fee covers

The 6% + R5 is Paystack's payment-processing fee for the secure online transaction. It is paid by the buyer and shown separately before payment. It is not YeboWork commission and is not deducted from the seller's quote. Direct cash or EFT carries no YeboWork payment fee.

Connecting a payout account

Sellers who want to accept Pay on YeboWork connect a South African bank account in Earnings & Payouts. Paystack validates the account before it can receive payments. Payout-account verification costs 5 credits per attempt.

The seller must enter the exact account holder name, bank, account number and account type held by the bank. A verification attempt is charged once confirmed, whether it passes or fails, because the external validation has been processed.

Verification costs

Check Cost Refundable after processing?
Identity verification 25 credits per attempt No — charged whether it passes or fails
Business verification 50 credits per attempt No — charged whether it passes or fails
Payout-account verification 5 credits per attempt No — charged whether it passes or fails

Cancelling before a check is submitted is not charged. A marketing package may cover the identity-check cost, but the Verified badge is earned only after the check passes.

If something goes wrong

Because you pay after seeing the work (or a preview), most problems are avoided upfront. If a genuine issue does occur, contact us. Refunds for online payments follow Paystack's rules and YeboWork's Returns & Refund Policy. Cash or direct-EFT refunds must be arranged with the seller because YeboWork did not process those funds.

Frequently asked questions

Does YeboWork charge sellers commission?

No. Sellers keep 100% of the quoted job price.

Is online payment required?

No. Choose Pay on YeboWork, cash, or direct EFT for each job.

When does the seller receive an online payment?

Paystack disburses the quoted amount directly to the connected bank account when the online payment is processed. There is no YeboWork-held balance or payout minimum.

Why did my bank verification fail?

The name, number, bank and account type must match the bank's records. Check every field before retrying because each processed attempt costs another 5 credits.

The bottom line

You choose how to pay. Online payment gives both parties a recorded Paystack transaction, while direct cash or EFT has no payment fee. Either way, YeboWork takes 0% seller commission.
